FAST Adds Henny Penny to Growing List of Smart Commercial Kitchen® Technology Partners

SCK Direct™ Remote Monitoring Service Will Become Optional Offering for Henny Penny Customers

Stratford, CT and Eaton, OH - April 1, 2002 - Food Automation - Service Techniques, Inc. (FAST), a leading provider of appliance controls and online kitchen networking products for the food service industry, and Henny Penny, a leading foodservice equipment manufacturer, today announced that FAST's Smart Commercial Kitchen (SCK ) technology will become one of the advanced service options available to Henny Penny customers.

FAST's SCK technology allows foodservice operators to remotely monitor individual pieces or clusters of equipment from the Internet. The companies will work together to establish interoperability between SCK protocol and Henny Penny's fryers, combi ovens, holding cabinets, and blast chillers, with Henny Penny to embed the protocol into its process controls, for which FAST will provide SCK Direct communications technology.

Henny Penny will market the SCK technology as one of several advanced communications options available to their customers, and FAST will offer the SCK Direct remote monitoring service on a subscription basis to those customers who choose to embed the SCK protocol. This service will enable subscribers to generate automated HACCP logs and view equipment status from the Internet, as well as receive alerts via email, fax, or pager when equipment operations deviate from preset critical control points. Existing Henny Penny customers who wish to subscribe to SCK Direct will be able to have their equipment retrofitted with the technology.

This relationship marks the third time FAST will create an SCK solution for an equipment manufacturer. FAST recently announced agreements to establish interoperability with Marshall Air's broilers and holding cabinets as well as Traulsen's line of refrigeration equipment.

"The potential for technologies like SCK to improve food quality, food safety, and production processes is tremendous," said Greg Roth, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Henny Penny. "Partnering with companies like FAST that enable our equipment to effectively communicate has become a very high priority for us given the projected growth of online kitchen applications."

"As interconnected kitchen technology continues to evolve, it is critical to engage equipment manufacturers like Henny Penny, since they will play a crucial role in the successful integration and adoption of systems like SCK," said Mario Ceste, Vice President of Business Development for FAST. "We're pleased to add Henny Penny to our rapidly growing list of SCK partners and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship."
